Hagaman Memorial Library’s Third Stage Reopening Services

The Hagaman Memorial Library has moved to its third stage of reopening services.

First, the library has extended the range of its Public Wi-Fi Network signal to outside of the library building.  Outside Wi-Fi antennae have been installed covering the front of library building facing Main Street and covering the side and back parking lot areas of the building.  Connecting to the outside Wi-Fi is easy on the library grounds or while being parked in a vehicle in the library’s parking lot.  The outside Wi-Fi is available for use 24 hours per day.

Second, the library has opened a computer lab in the lower level DeMayo Room, which can be entered through the back portion of the library building.

Please note: The Hagaman Memorial Library is temporarily changing its computer lab schedule. From the week of February 15 through the week of April 12 the Computer Lab will be open during the following days:   Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am – 1 pm / 2:30 pm – 7 pm; and Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 am – 1 pm / 2 pm – 5 pm.  The Computer Lab will temporarily be closed on Mondays and Wednesdays and scheduling for Mondays will resume the week of April 19, 2021.

The computers in the lab provide access to the Internet and software applications.  Printing can be done from the computers at a cost.

Patrons wishing to use the computers need to make reservations 24 hours in advance by calling the Library at 203-468-3890.  Scheduled computer sessions are for 75 minutes.  Walk-in use of the lab without an advanced reservation is discouraged and handled as the lab reservation schedule of that day permits or will need to be scheduled for another day.

There are guidelines in place for using the computer lab.  Facemasks must be worn at all times, and social distancing observed.  Children under the age of 12 are not permitted.  The exception to this is for a parent to be present with a child for a homework assignment or for a constructive purpose.  The water coolers and restrooms are not available.

The computer lab will permit limited scheduling of the Public Access Wi-Fi Network.  At this time, patrons are encouraged to use the outside Public Wi-Fi network.  The library has a printer that laptops or mobile devices can use to print from.  There is a cost involved for printing copies.  Instructions need to be requested from the library on how to do this.

Third, the library’s curbside services hours are:

Monday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 am – 8 pm.

Patrons can pick up curbside reserved materials during these hours, as well as scheduling to have photocopying and faxing done.

NEW BROWSING AND CHECK OUT SERVICES BY APPOINTMENT ONLY-AS OF APRIL 19, 2021:

As of Monday, April 19, 2021, library patrons will be able to call the library at 203-468-3890 and schedule a 20-minute appointment to browse the library’s collection and check out materials on the library’s lower level. New materials from the library’s adult collection will be moved downstairs to the lower level and these materials as well as the children’s collection will be available for browsing and check out. Curbside services and computer lab access will still be in place with browsing and check out appointments added.

The audiences that can schedule an appointment are adults, families, and teens.  The days and times during the week that appointments can be made, are:

-Monday and Friday 10:30 am – 12:30 pm for Adults and 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm for families.

-Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays:  10:30-12:30 pm; 2:30 – 4:30 pm; and 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm. (all audiences)

-Saturday 10:30 am – 12:30 pm and 2 pm – 4 pm. (all audiences)

Two people together can be scheduled at one time for an adult or teen appointment.  For families, no more than 4 people at a time for an appointment. Only one audience (adults, families and teens) can be scheduled at a time for safety reasons.

COVID-19 safety guidelines must be adhered to at all times. Face masks must be worn and a social distance of 6-feet must be maintained by patrons. We ask that patrons please sanitize their hands at our hand sanitizing station upon entering the building. Patrons must enter the building for their browsing appointment at the library’s back entrance. Patrons can sanitize their hands at the hand sanitizing station located near the back entrance once inside the building.

It is important that patrons be on time for their browsing appointment. If a patron is late, they will have less time to browse and check out and may need to reschedule their appointment.

During this third phase of reopening, library programs will still be held virtually and outside group use of the library’s conference rooms will not be permitted.

Also, during this new phase of reopening, the Library will continue to not charge overdue fines for returned materials.  The Library does request, however, that patrons return materials to the library in a timely manner based on the due dates of borrowed materials.

Library services and the library building remain on a limited use basis because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the library is continually working to offer increased services.  It is important to note that the library has built its online services given its current limitations. The library continues to offer virtual programming online for all ages. Check the Library’s events calendar at https://www.hagamanlibrary.org/calendar/ for all the virtual programming the library is offering.  In addition, the library’s Website, www.hagamanlibrary.org, is a 24/7 operation.  With a library card, patrons have free access to eBooks, emagazines, audiobooks, music, streaming video, online research, and much more.

Please feel free to contact the library at 203-468-3890 for further information about its reopening services.
