“The Strategic Significance of the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor” August 29th 2:00 p.m.

Mark Albertson will present a talk “The Strategic Significance of the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor” for the WWII Veterans Discussion Group at 2 p.m. on  August 29th at the Hagaman Memorial Library, 227 Main Street  East Haven.   Please note that the talk will not dwell on the Day of Infamy itself, rather it will explain what preceded and led up to the attack starting with the rise of Japan, the developing friction between Japan and the U.S., Japan’s rapid series of conquests, the decisive aspect of oil, and other integral events. Mr. Albertson is an historical research editor at Army Aviation magazine, he has written several books and has lectured widely around the state. This program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
